Bob Shaw was a 1st Team All-Ohio center in 1939-40.
Mike Reardon, 1974, played at Western Michigan.
Luke Lyle is cuurently tied with John Lewis for 13th place on the all-time Ross scoring list, 742 points...2000-01 through 2002-03. College:???

Second Team All Ohio
Pete Davis, 1963 second team all ohio played at BGSU for a couple of years. In HOF Hall of Fame.

Honorable Mention All Ohio
Tim Thomas 1966 honorable mention, all ohio; first team all buckeye, played at Wittenburg until appointed to US MIlitry accadamy, in HOF.
Adam Gries , playing at Saginaw Valley State, Michigan
Ryan Croudup-Levario, 2nd team All District, All Ohio Honorable Mention, 18.6 ppg average.

Notable players mentioned with information provided:

Greg Binder, Career record holder, played at Un of North Carolina-Willmington. In HOF.

Jack Carroll and JW Miller in the late 30's played in College and were All Big 7 in high school. Both in HOF.

Dean Doren around 1953 was very good and held season scoring record at the time

Gail Brockla, 1958 set season scoring record in BB and also set high jump record.

Dr. Lee Moore 1931 played on state tourny teams, probably could have played at Michigan, but concentrated on studies for Med school. In HOF.

Whitey Altoff in the 20's played at Western Teachers College (Western Michigan today). In HOF.

Russ Hagerty, one of the best athletes in Ross history. Great football player at QB till he broke his nose badly and did not go out his Sr. year and concentrated on basketball and baseball. Played basketball as a freshman at BGSU and baseball at BG and at one time held the home run record at BG.

Bob Shaw, graduated around 1939. Played Football, Basketball and Track at Ohio State University. Played and coached in the NFL. First class of HOF.

John Lewis, Sr. 1951, In HOF. Noted for football records, but was a very good basketball player. Played football at Michigan State and has tryout with Baltimore Colts.

Dave Fahrbach, Ross grad '76, played at Otterbein College ('80), was all Ohio Athletic Conf at center as a Senior.

Paul Fahrbach, Captain '74, played at Adrian College.

Charles Woodson, very good player, but did not play his senior year. Played football at Michigan and won Heisman trophy.

Juan Vela, (years ??), played at Defiance College.

Jim Flower, point guard, was state tennis champion in mid 70's. Played tennis at OSU, now lives in Upper Arlington.

Top Coaches:
Women: Tennerstat1930s and Sue Wolf-Present day coach. In the 30's the girls teams had something like 8 undefeated seasons before they eliminated girls sports in WWII. Some of those early girls included a Demmel, two Watkins, and others. Best coach Mrs. Tennerstat who also was know as Tenny Reimer when she got married to Emery Reimer and lived on Buckland Ave till she passed in the 1980's. 8 undefeated seasons. Sue Wolfe certainly has the career win-loss record based on her longevity.

Men:
On the best coach, it appears Gedion (60%) and Ed Gable (64%) have highest win percentages. Zeimke seems to have had only two real good years.

Interesting thing on some of the coaches: Marquette went to Rossford and had some real good teams and went to state Tourny. Paeth went to a small school in Florida and had a a very successfull career.

Norman went to coach at Heidelburg and finished his career at Perkins. Purvis went to be head baseball coach at BGSU and then AD at Ball State. Oldfather became superintendant here at Fremont.

Keith, I believe you are correct on the spelling--Tennerstat. I need to get out some of my old clippings to get the years of her undefeated "Huskies" teams.

Kyle I do not recall the Fostoria game, but I would imagine they did not know recall that game from the early days.

This forum has been great at getting some of these records out to the public and going forward, they can be assembled so the kids and public know what they are.

Bob Shaw must have been great. If I remember correctly he was first team All OHio basketball and football. He played all three sports (+track) at OSU and had a long pro career.


rjnorth, can you list the top scorers that you are showing? If you are down to 13th, you must have a great list.

rj, I believe back then they had a center jump after each score, making those stats even more remarkable. Also interesting that that 44 points is likely second best scoring effort for decades.

Also, the key was really shaped like a key, not the rectangle like today. I am not sure if the key was there at the turn of the century, but I can recall playing in old Jr. Hi's that still had the old key, with the new size just added.

Any idea if OSU has team pictures from those very early years?
