Consider that the team is passing the bug around and one regular player was out sick, I'd say they "toughed" it out.
Story is at www.ohsn.org.
Sorry it isn't the greatest tonight, but I'm tired.

Another OT game. Kenny Penn, Jordan Jones, Stephen Carnicom, and company played a wail of a game.

It was a good game, but horrible, I mean horrible officiating. This was the worst I have seen yet. All of the Ross players held their own and much praise to
them for it. I expect good things to come from them in the future.

ladyannabella,
You are correct. It started during the JV game. They couldn't get anything right and I was afraid we were going down the same path as the Maumee game where they had to call the game early because they let it get out of hand. The varsity official who was "picking on JJ" last night is the superintendent at one of the schools in Toledo. He was looking for ways to call fouls on Jordan. At one time, one of our fans joked with him at halftime and said something and he turned around and jokingly pointed out how he was trying to call fouls on Jordan. Giving Jordan an intentional foul when he was making a play was ridiculous. Now, that doesn't mean Jordan is the cleanest player, but he, Stephen, Andrew, etc. all got fouls that were tacky. How's this. It wasn't until :39 left in the 2nd ot that we reached double bonus from the entire second half. We should also give credit to Northview. They played a very good game. |

Yes, Northview played a good game. There was a lot of pushing on the part of Northview and I could see that some of our players were getting frustrated and
pushing back. Of course, the refs only saw us getting physical. Another thing, I question one of their jv players and his playing time. He played 3 quarters of
the jv game and 3 quarters of the varsity game. I thought players were only allowed 5 quarters? Can you clarify this for me?

You are allowed 5 quarters per night.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most. |

Exactly. That read-headed kid played at least in 6 quarters, then count both overtimes (which I don't think - correct me if I'm wrong - counts as a
quarter).
I've also seen this twice in Elmwood's girls team. A girl played 7 quarter in two games that I saw. |

not so sure i can blame the officials..... jj has - for the most part - been "above the fray" for the season - the last couple games though,
seems to be the jj of old.... he got what he deserved, actually could have / should have been worse... he grabbed a jersey taunted - whined - etc - very
easily could have had 2 T's - that is a very respected officiating crew! our guard play is very selfish.... our team is very weak physically.... alot of
physical plays that look like "fouls" are just our players being so weak that it looks bad - but good officials know the difference....
regarding the player that played jv and varsity - OT's don't count for quarters - but that is how you groom players - if a jv is good enough to dress varsity, he should get some PT.... unlike our system...... |

Wahoo,
I understand some of where you are coming from, but: 1. That JV player played 4 quarters of JV action, 3 of varsity and then appeared in both OTs. 2. JJ may be taking on characteristics of his old self, but he's still no where as bad as he was. He's no different from the guard at Ottawa Hills who I've seen this year talk trash, do the same things, etc. but he doesn't get picked on by the officials (from what my uncle says who has been to most of their games). I heard the one official say after halftime to one of our fans that he was purposely watching Jordan and he wasn't going to let him get away with anything. What about the players on the other teams? 3. That crew is VERY good, I'll give that to you; however, you can't single someone out just because of their behavior in past games, years, etc . Each game is a separate contest. 4. I agree we're not the strongest team on the block, but I've watched several good teams this year (Toledo Christian, Ottawa Hills, Eastwood) and I'd say they aren't any bigger overall then we are. They aren't even that strong. Northview on the otherhand appeared to be much stronger. But I'll take basketball skills over body mass any day. Kenny Penn looks like one of the smallest (size and weight) kids around but he plays bigger than most I've seen. |
