Summer poll #1...2009 regular season record. How will the Little Giants finish? |
Lead | ||

The 2009 summer poll series begins with the same question that has begun the summer since 2002. The forum wants to know what you think. What will the Little
Giants final regular season record be?
Your pick for the 2009 final regular season record (Total Votes: 21) - Closed10-0 (3 / 14.3%) 9-1 (6 / 28.6%) 8-2 (7 / 33.3%) 7-3 (5 / 23.8%) 6-4 (0 / 0%) 5-5 (0 / 0%) 4-6 (0 / 0%) 3-7 (0 / 0%) 2-8 (0 / 0%) 1-9 (0 / 0%) 0-10 (0 / 0%) |

My pick is 9-1. I'm hearing lots of very positive news from 1100 North St. We have a so much talent returning it's scary. 10-0 is possible but I
don't feel completely comfortable picking that. Whitmer is going to be the toughest opponent and our best chance of a loss. The Panthers will be talented
and we play up there. What does everyone else think?

I have also picked 9-1, however I feel Cleveland Benedictine will be our toughest matchup, followed by Whitmer.
Keith, what have you heard so far this season? |

I know Whitmer is expected to be very tough. Reading some of the posts on Benny over at the huddle, on yappi and at Cleveland.com they may be a bit down but
Benedictine is still going to be tough. Always are. Lahser is being mentioned on some boards up here as a darkhouse choice for the D3 title in Michigan.

Down Year or not, Benedictine gives Ross a mental block, not sure why. There is a reason our record against them is so lopsided.

I think 8-2 with Benny, Whitmer and Findlay as tough oponents. Wild Card will be Michigan Lahser.
Ross should have the tools to prove my prediction wrong; lets hope so!! |

I can't wait to see Lahser and how they match up with us or we match up with them.

I went 7-3 with losses to Whitmer...the Bennys and to the Trojans. I have a feeling we underachieve this year. JMO.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most. |

wowzer,
That's exactly how I picked things, with the exception that maybe Ross would beat one of the teams above and lose to Lahser or even a surprise loss. It's scary how soon we all forget about Columbian still being on our schedule. While we have the talent, I don't think we'll go 10-0 (that was a fluke, miraculous season - with some crazy wins). 9-1 or 8-2 is possible, and I'd be happy if that's where they finished and proved my 7-3 guess wrong. |

I went with 8 - 2 even though I do believe that Ross has the talent to go 9 - 1 or 10 - 0. One loss to either Whitmer or Benedictine and maybe another somewhat
unexpected loss along the line somewhere. I have not paid attention to the schedule this year but it appears that Ross plays better during the first half of
the season than they do during the 2nd half which is where they may be vunerable.
Good luck. |

This years team has the potential to be one of the very best Little Giant football teams ever. Our offense has so much talent coming back that it would make
any coach drool. If the Defense steps up, and I think they will, this years team will be very tough to beat. We'll start by blowing Start away. Whitmer
will be tough. Columbian will be another easy win. Benedictine will not be as tough as in the past and we will beat them. Findlay and Naptown will be our
toughest league games but we will whip them too.

its there I cannot make it any more clear.now.....Idont think whitmer is quite as good as the 2007 team.I've always been right.they have an improved team
but playmakers at a premium minus the qb.Mislers good........ 7 3 ross plays very well on the road. our kids were young last year they wore down as the season
wore on typical young tea.m.........NEVER Bet for it to happen 2 years ina row..A football team never ever stays the same year to year take my word for
it.teams get better as they mature.. our schedule is good it will prepare us for the playoffs.

Lots and lots of talent - as long as they gel as a family they'll go far, but its been a long time since that has happened for Ross. I'm going with 7-3
but sincerely hope they prove me very wrong.

Do we have anyone on the team to have to worry about picking up those silly 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalties this year? If we can cut that attitude out this
year, that will help!

kyle keith go hooter...............I don't know but let me say this...................Who.......with 7 some srs last yea goes 8 and 2 and barely miss the
playoffs. in d 1 are you kidding me 7 seniors that's A REBUILDING YEAR FOR 90 pct of the schools in ohio. when kidwell said in the preseason he was gonna
have to rely on jrs and sophomores to get the job done I thought 5 and 5....I think the overall athleticism of the team overcame the lack of experience...
EVERY Game for fremont ROSS was a big game last year and mentally they may have wore down..AA YEAR OLDER and mature great leadership kids fremont will be
fine.15 pts from an undefeated season last we got nothin to complain about.

ROSS1FAN wrote: You make great points! Last year was a rebuilding year and we basically were 2 plays away from being 10-0. I picked 10-0 because I know the talent is there to do it. And this group of seniors has gone thru back to back heartbreaker seasons reguarding the playoffs. The toughest non league games will be Whitmer and that Michigan team. I feel we'll beat Whitmer because we're playing them early. We should have the edge in the experience category. The Michigan team could be the slip up only because not much is known about them and they could be a buzzsaw coming into town. As far as the GBC, every team gives Ross their best game it seems. We may not blow teams out, but I expect tough hard fought victories. I forgot to add that Benedictine is slowing losing their mystique. Kids are now wanting to goto Glenville, St. Ed and St Iggy. I do not expect to have much trouble beating them this season. Their talent pool is drying up.

ROSS1FAN is right. This team and these kids are a year older. The defense is tougher. We're gonna start the season by rolling over Start. Whitmer will be
tough but we'll beat em. Columbian is going to come up here and get beat again. Rossfan is right about Benny, they are slowly losing their players to the
other big Cleveland schools and this is the year we beat em big. Then comes Lahser and they won't know what happened to them. The GBC will be ours too. I
hope we run it up bigtime on Findlay. This year is the Little Giants year!
