Strobel Field - My first impression there was that the Stands are just too far away from the Field, so therefore, I wouldn't rate it too highly though.
However, I did like the "antique" look that it did have, IMO.
Donnell Stadium - My first impression there was when it had Grass, but now with the Turf, it's not a bad stadium overall. Just Parking is horrendous, and Light Poles need to be moved back. Harding Stadium/Marion - Nothing impressive to me about Harding Stadium, IMO from my first impression. Buckenmeyer Stadium/Napoleon - I liked this Stadium, but it's in the middle of nowhere. Lima Stadium - If the Visitor's side wasn't falling apart, this Stadium wouldn't be too bad at all. Frost/Kalnow in Tiffin - I like the Hill that Frost/Kalnow seems to be carved into, and as always, it's nice to have Field Turf there. Whitmer Memorial - We'll get to see the new Scoreboard they have, but it seems impressive from the Pictures, but overall, I'm surprised that the Stadium isn't bigger with Whitmer being the Largest School in NW Ohio. Memorial Stadium/Fostoria - Never been inside, but have driven past it. Can't comment. Memorial Stadium/Oregon Clay - Never seen it. Community Stadium/Bedford, MI - Never seen it. Cats Stadium/Sylvania - Never seen it. Steinecker Stadium/Perrysburg - From the looks of the pictures, it's way too small, but I've never seen it. Mollenkopf Stadium/Toledo Waite - Never seen it. Spartan Stadium/Toledo Start - Never seen it. Matthews Stadium/Toledo Bowsher - Never seen it. Ely Stadium/Elyria - Never seen it. George Daniel Stadium/Lorain - Never seen it. Arlin Field/Mansfield - Never seen it. Reynoldsburg/whatever that dump was called - This is a joke right? I still can't believe they called it a Stadium. But, the Raider Dog from the concession stands were one of the best Chili Dogs I've had at any stadium up to date. |

I voted for George Daniel Stadium in Lorain. Being an old Buckeye Conference fella I have great memories of that place. Ely and Arlin also hold good memories.
These young folks who think they are experts on Ross football history have no clue what they have missed.

GoHooter - at first I thought you were Vince G from the NM with that comment about the Chili Dog.
From those choices, I'd have to go with Napoleon (I think) - I'll have to give it more thought. While it seems out in the middle of nowhere, sitting on the visiting side is a treat (though they don't have a lot of seating over there). I HATE the wildcat noise when they score, but if I were a Napoleonite, it probably would be cool. Tiffin Stadium might tie for first or be a close 2nd. |

Sandusky--needs some work, but oh what history with the Little Giants and I can still remember the games in high school.
I like Napoleon stadium also--open area and a good program--pretty poor locker set though for the team..

One stadium not mentioned is Lakewood's. That's a heckuva facility.
Sulsberger in Zanesville wasn't too shabby, either, especially with a festive mood having an Oktober Night and Game on Saturday Night. FWIW, in 88 and 90, those were games on successive weeks, so lots of miles. |

My vote went to Strobel. No facility can hold a candle to that one when it comes to the amount of history and the great(and not so great) memories. And Mal, I
too, am an old Buckeye Conference person and vividly remember all the old BC stadiums. George Daniel was a good place for a game. I can recall sitting there
with the orange sky from the US Steel plant behind us. I also recall walking back to our cars in the parking lot there after a little Giant win over the
Steelmen or Admirals and dodging rocks being thrown at us from behind the hedges. Ely was not quite as nice as I recall. Arlin Field is a beautiful place and
would be even nicer if they ever got turf put down.
Of our current conference stadiums Findlays is the nicest followed by Napoleon and Harding. Lima had a nice place before they condemned and tore down the visitors side. This year down there should be interesting. Jake is right Lakewood is a fantastic place. I believe Whitmer Memorial is one of the top stadiums in Northwest Ohio also. |

Keith, I've heard that Lima received a large private donation for rebuilding of the visitors side.

I like both Elyria and Lorain, been there many times because Elyria is my hometown, many battles on each of their turf

My favorite place was always Harmon Stadium, but since the thread is about visiting a stadium, I would have to say Strobel Field. Donnell Stadium probably
second. Keith and Mal Mackey, I too am an old Buckeye Conference guy and all those old stadiums are full of history. I played in all of those places, winning
some and losing some. I would have to say the worst places back then were probably Elyria and Marion. They used to cut the electricity off on us in the locker
room in Elyria, and they only had like 2 shower heads working. I have not been to some of those places for a while, so I don't know what shape they are in
now. One thing though, the old stadiums were all reinforced concrete, and I hate seeing the old stadiums come down, but it would be cost prohibitive to build
like that now. I hope to get to Strobel this year to see the upgrades. Memories....priceless.

I picked Stroble only for the great memories over the 30+ years that I've been going to the games. I also was from the old Buckeye conference - marched in
front of the band as a pom-pom girl (hey, I heard that snickering) - and remember always having to do the splits in the snow at that stadium - but it was
always the best game of the year - who cared what the facility looked like!

For those of you who have never been to the Mecca of high school football, you need to goto Massillon/Canton at least once. You will fall in love with the
places. I have been going there for almost 15 years now, probably seen over 100 games and never been disappionted yet. Its even better to be there for a
Massillon or McKinley game, the atmosphere is nuts!
