Thanks for the info. So are you guys pretty confident that I will be able to buy tickets on the home side let's say, an hour before the game?

Welcome MegaFan,
Usually, if you get there an hour a head of time, you should have little trouble getting a ticket, but parking is sometimes a problem since the stadium is in the middle of a neighborhood--safe by the way. The school usually has a nice band show and it is a good atmosphere. Our moderator--KSM-- of this forum works in Ann Arbor, so he is pretty familiar with the Michigan schools as well and gives us some nice background. As Keith indicated Fremont has sent some good players to the U of M and in the 50's, a great player to MSU-- John "Big Thunder" Lewis who played in the pro's. I have been past Lahser HS and Seaholm and some others in the Bloomfield area and it is a very nice area. Give us a little history on the school. I look forward to the game and an intersectional contest like this. Should be fun. |

tatner is right. I live in A2 and work in Metro Detroit. A couple of my coworkers are familiar with Lahser football. One is a former player at Farmington Hills
Harrison, a team the Knights have played regularly. Another coworker is a former player at Riverview in the downriver area. I've heard all about how good
Lahser is and we'll need to be ready for a good game against a good program. Little Giant fans need to realize this will be a huge step up from our past
week 5 opponents and not a guaranteed win by any means.
btw...I see the football website is down again. GoHooterGo...whats up? Keith |

Unfortunately I don't know much about the schools in the Bloomfield/ Birmingham area. I grew up on the opposite side of town in Lincoln Park, MI, and I
currently live in Allen Park, MI, which borders Lincoln Park to the north. So I follow the schools in what's called the Downriver/ Wayne County area.
I'm interested in this game because it is one of our better teams, and the game will be played within a decent driving distance. Last season I saw
Boardman play Canton McKinley, how good are you guys in comparison to those teams?

McKinley is one of the very best football schools in Ohio and the country. We are not quite at that level although we are in the same playoff region as the
Bulldogs. I would say Fremont Ross is on par with Boardman.

If you're on par with Boardman, then you're very good. I see you went 8-2 last year, how did you not make the
playoffs, and how many players do you have coming back?

Us not making the playoffs in '08 brings back some very bad memories. If you go back on the forum here you can read about it on several threads. Going into
the final weekend we were in one of the top eight playoff spots. A couple of things hurt us. First and foremost the team Lahser is replacing, Lorain Southview,
frankly..sucked. They had no business being on our schedule. They got us no playoff points at all. Secondly, Toledo Whitmer, a team we beat 34-14 had their
game against Toledo Rogers cancelled because Rogers was being penalized for an on-field brawl in their loss to Toledo Central Catholic. Instead of calling the
game a forfeit, it was simply called a cancelled game and we got no points for that. Therefore we sat home while a 6-4 team made it. An appeal was made to the
OHSAA but we were denied.
As far as who is coming back...well almost the entire offense returns. Cody Foos at QB. Cody will be a Senior this coming season and has started since his Sophomore year. He threw for 1800 yards his Soph season and over 1500 last year. He's good. Senior running back James Spencer returns after running for over 1,000 yards in '08. Junior WR/DB Greg Brown(who may very well be the best player on the field) returns. Young Mr. Brown is the son of Jeff Brown, a former Little Giant great who played for one of Iowa's Rose Bowl teams in the late '1970's. Greg is already being recruited by numerous DI teams including Ohio State and Michigan. Brett Mierke returns as well. He is a good receiver and can pick off passes on defense. Honestly, our defense has got to step up. We had a tough time stopping the run last year and if the D doesn't improve in '09 we may be in that boat again. Keith |

Canton McKinley has one of the richest traditions in Ohio history. But to say they are better right now than the Ross program is open for debate. The last 5
years Ross is 34-16 while McKinley is 35-15. The only area where McKinley is above Ross is their playoff performance. But that's more of an
indictment on our weak league than us.
Does anyone know if this deal is just for 1 year? I sort of wouldn't mind making a road trip up to MI next year. Also could this game possibly be on a Saturday night as Lasher is making a very long trip? To answer a question about how we will be next year. Quite frankly with all the weapons we have coming back on offense, if we can actually field a defense that works, we could easily go 9-1 or 10-0. I'm not bragging, but Ross is just 1 piece of the puzzle away from being a big time team. If we have another defense like last year, we could end up 7-3 or 8-2 again. I fully expect big things from our Little Giants this fall.

I see on Lahsers athletic website that our Freshman and JV's are going to Bloomfield Hills the next day for their games. I would love for this to be a home
and home series.

Thanks everyone for all the information. I'm sorry that I don't have the same kind of info about Lahser, but like I said, I am not from there. I just
saw a bunch of pictures of your stadium. That place is HUGE! It's gotta seat like 7,000 just on the home side alone. Do you guys fill that
place for every game? Its unlike anything I've ever seen at the high school level. It's definitely bigger than anything that I've seen here in MI.

For the most part, the middle sections are filled. One of those sections being the PSL seats which cost a pretty penny ( Just ask Kyle T hes got like a whole
row) But as you move out it thins out a little, but for the most part id say its 70 % full. Not sure on seating totals but its one of the larger seating
sections in the state.

rossfan07,
Don't be jealous - if you really want one of my seats, just let me know - I can loan them out as I don't plan on going to many Ross games next year. I think I'm going to put my efforts into writing for another area football team (hmm...Bettsville, Old Fort, I don't know). |

Keep in mind, while there are open areas on the homeside, there are longtime Fremont fans who love to sit on the eastside general admission area which houses
the visiting fans. Also, many of the fans love to stand along the railings at each endzone.

I'm one of those fans that usually sits on the visitors' side. I really couldn't tell you why though. When I was little my parents always sat on
that side for some reason, so I guess I just got in the habit of it.
