I have friends in other cities that youth programs start competing at earlier ages then fremont. For example, tackle football starts at 3rd grade. They keep
scores and standings for 3rd grade basketball and have playoffs. I think we as a community should start tackle football in 4th grade at least, and go back to
the days in basketball when it was school against school not kids just put on a team. Stamm vs Otis or Hayes vs Lutz etc... Competition is good and might
helps both girls and boys programs in all sports. Plus it might help kids better focus in school knowing that they have to do there best with there grades
and behavior to play sports. What do you guys think?

Don't we start that early in Fremont? It's just not kept like that (scores, standings, etc.) I can see putting more of a "competitive" nature
behind it to encourage the kids, but at the same time, well, I don't know. Maybe you are onto something.
The kids already can tell you what their records are in 5th/6th grade basketball even though they erase the score after every quarter. |

I think having fun and learning fundamentals should be the main objective until 4th grade. After that point, I think the kids have a lot to learn from the
lessons of winning and losing that would make an impact and benefit them when they're older.
